Help me make a list of every mascot in Prince George

Let's take a break!

If you want a sense of how my week is going, I skipped Monday’s newsletter and then yesterday I said I had missed watching city council the night prior when the meeting hadn’t actually happened yet — I thought we were a day further along then we were. Anyways, I didn’t watch council last night either because I am just feeling low-bandwidth right now so I’ll catch up when the newspaper reports do and will watch the replay of anything I find interesting. But right now, let’s have a little diversion:

Mascots!

Last week I shared a post from the Chamber of Commece which is going to be unveiling the “Top Figures Under 40” and which I am curious about not being the traditional “Top 40 Under 40.” To that, Alison emailed and said:

First thing that came to mind when it said "Top Figures" was that it will include non humans under 40 - AKA Blitz from the PG Kodiaks

And included this photo:

To which I replied OMG because I had no idea this city had yet ANOTHER mascot.

I don’t know for certain but I get the feeling Prince George must be the mascot capital of something because we seem to have more mascots per capita than anywhere else. So I want to make a full list. I’m going to list all the mascots I’m aware of and I’m hoping the rest of y’all can let me know who or what I’ve missed. My only criteria is that for it to be a MASCOT it needs to have some sort of three-dimensional representation and be associated with something specific — ie nothing that is just a logo, and preferably something that takes the form of a costume someone walks around in at events or whatever. Here is the list I know of:

  1. Mr. PG - wooden lumberjack - city of Prince George

  2. Fraser - moose - Tourism Prince George

  3. Spirit - caribou - Northern Health

  4. Alpha - timberwolf - UNBC

  5. Rowdy Cat - cougar - the Cougars

  6. Nanguz - fox - The Y, formerly the Canada Winter Games)

  7. Elderbeary - bear - Prince George Council of Seniors

  8. Amelia Bearhart - another bear - YXS

  9. and

  10. Whoever these the goat and bighorn sheep are in this picture???

  11. Honourary: Dewey, the fake water droplet used for April Fool’s Day

  12. Do the Spruce Kings have one?? They must, right?

Then there’s the high schools which I’m not sure of anymore - who is what?

So this is where I need your help. If you know who the heck these mystery mascots are in the picture above, or if you know of others that I should include, please let me know by replying to this email or messaging me. I need the list to be complete. Maybe we’ll even do… a bracket? Or maybe not, who knows?
